The Practice Paradox™ Group was founded by Michael Carter after he identified a skill gap in many accounting firms where there tends to be a lack of marketing and professional selling skills.

These are skills not typically taught in accounting or commerce degrees or even in professional development or public practice certificate programs offered by various professional bodies.

Yet these are skills that can bridge the gap between what a firm is capable of providing clients (that is, more proactive planning-related services), and what many firms typically do provide clients (that is, mainly retrospective compliance-related services).

Our Clientshare™ Improvement Process is a 12-step program any accounting firm can follow to learn the psychology, skills and systems required to effectively and consistently sell higher level optional services to the firm’s existing clients. This increases revenue, improves margins and strengthens the firm’s client relationships.

The fundamental measure of progress is Clientshare™—that is, the Average Number of Services Provided Per Client. A firm’s Clientshare is a more specific and useful Key Performance Indicator (KPI) than the gross measure of Average Fee Per Client.
